Here’s a guide to set up your Time Capsule, Airport Extreme or Airport Express.

Parting from the next base.

  1. We will have the Time Capsule or Airport Extreme connected by cable “Ethernet” to our modem.
  2. We’ll use the Airport Express to “Extend our WIFI network” at home, while connecting our printer via WIFI.

We´ll find the menu that will grant access to the configuration of our Airport devices in: “Applications / Utilities / Airport Utility”:

Initially, our Airport Extreme or Time Capsule devices must be connected to your modem/router, which will provide data access to the Internet. This will make the Airport only to transmit information via it’s own WIFI or “Ethernet” (if we have it physically connected to the computer), avoiding us of incompatibilities or problems.

The configuration of our Time Capsule or Airport Extreme will be as follows (assuming you want to transmit the information via WIFI).

We’ll use the Airport Express to extend our WIFI network, ideal for those large homes or multiple floors; or maybe to have excellent coverage in areas of the house where it is not that good. Also it can be used for printing documents via WIFI on our printer, only having to connect the printer via USB to the Airport Express.
